LONDIS STRIKES GOLD IN SCOTTISH GROCER AWARDS

Enrico Giovanacci, symbol store of the year winner (centre) received his award from Katy Hill and sponsor, Andy Thompson of Pepsico

Londis retailers got off to a flying start in the first batch of high-profile retail industry awards this year, scooping four of the 13 Scottish Grocer awards.  A remarkable achievement!

Congratulations to Enrico Giovanacci whose Londis store in Inverkip received the highest accolade of the night, voted best symbol store of the year.

The 3,000 sq ft store only opened a year ago and is part of a retail development built by Enrico.  Fitted out to Genesis specification it has an in-store bakery, pharmacy and butchers with a strong emphasis on fresh food.

The store also received the award for best new store of the year.

And there were two further awards for Londis.

Jindy Aujla, best city store (centre) accepts his award from Katy Hill and sponsor, Andrew Anderson, AG Barr

Best city store went to Jas and Jindy Aujla who run the Londis store in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.  Brian McCaughey, our regional director, says: “Standards in this store are consistently superb.  The awards could not have been more deserved.”

Emma Kinsman (centre) receives her award fro employee of the year from TV presenter, Katy Hill and sponsor, Graham Walker, Nestle

And Emma Kinsman, who manages Asif Ashraf’s store in High Blantyre was named employee of the year.

Well done to all these retailers and their staff, they are an inspiration to us all.  And well done, too, to those members of the Musgrave GB team who have provided particular support to these stores.

Last year was an extra-ordinarily successful year of awards for Musgrave GB – the number one supporter of the independent retailer – and 2006 has certainly got off to a tremendous start.
