WINNING WAYS!

Londis has enjoyed yet more sensational success in the latest bout of awards ceremonies.  Congratulations to Alpesh Patel, Nitin and Hansa Pandit, Kiran and Meena Patel, Arjan and Lalita Mehr plus Atul Sodha who were all stars at the Asian Trader awards 2005 on 22 November.

Former Asian Trader bake-off retailer of the year, Alpesh Patel, scooped the top prize this time achieving the accolade Asian Trader of the year.

Alpesh can boast the longest Londis fascia in the group.  He recently invested in a Genesis refit and judges were impressed with his superb store standards.  As well as the usual convenience offering he has a café area in store.

As well as winning the top award Alpesh also won the Heinz cricket club campaign.

Atul Sodha won the title Asian Trader excellence in merchandising.
Atul invested in a £60k Genesis refit.  and now he’s going from strength to strength.  Sales are still soaring and he supports campaigns like the British Food Fortnight campaign at the end of September.

He runs the 630 sq ft store in Harefield, Middx with his mother Indira.

Nitin and Hansa Pandit achieved Asian Trader neighbourhood retailer of the year.
For 17 years Nitin ran a tiny 450 sq ft stand-alone post office on a parade in Morden, South London .  But he had bigger ambitions.

After three years of negotiating with his landlord – the council – he was able to obtain two vacant units and knock them into one, achieving 2,000 sq ft of space into which he relocated the post office and added a full-bloodied convenience store with news and off licence to the mix.

That was 2003.  Then in 2004 he joined Londis and invested in a Genesis refit.

It’s been a steep learning curve, the move has given the shopping parade a lease of life and has been fantastically received locally.

Arjan and Lalita Mehr scooped Asian Trader bake-off retailer of the year with their enhanced Bake & Bite section complete with coffee machine and food-to-go at their store in Bracknell .

Kiran and Meena Patel won Asian Trader newcomer of the year.
When Kiran and Meena bought a purpose-built unit on a new housing estate in Bexley , Kent and opened it as a Londis store, they wanted it to be ‘simply the best’.  And they’ve achieved just that.

The Patels capitalise on the store’s prime location, on the main road through to Dartford and Bexley, by lighting up the impressive Londis fascia.

This has been an extra-ordinarily exciting time for Londis, with our retailers winning a host of prestigious awards.  A hearty congratulations to them all and the best of Londis luck to the Scottish retailers who have entered the Scottish Grocer awards, which will be announced next year.
